Gina’s start in life was deeply traumatic. She arrived in the UK in 2021 after being found surrounded by her litter of dead puppies. She was scared of men, frightened of loud noises and unsure of everything the world put in front of her.
Her journey since has been nothing short of amazing.
Today, Gina spends her days causing chaos with her “brother” Harris the bearded collie. They are the funniest, daftest, most troublesome non-related siblings you could hope to meet. She keeps everyone entertained by dancing and barking along to songs, and with her wonderfully odd habit of staring lovingly at her family from staircases and under garden bushes.
It hasn’t always been easy. Her adopter’s dad found it upsetting that Gina would avoid him, but with patience, kindness and gentle encouragement, she grew in confidence. Now she runs up to him for cuddles and a fuss, tail wagging. She has learned that the world can be full of love and fun. She has even conquered trips to the groomer, although her “street rat chic” look never stays away for long.
In her adopter’s words, Gina is a joint best friend (shared with Harris), a cuddle provider, a toy collector and an adventure buddy who gives unconditional love every single day.
Seeing Gina so loved in her forever home is exactly why we do what we do.
