Leave a lasting
legacy of hope.

A gift left to High Hopes in your will is one of the most meaningful things you can ever do for the dogs in our care — and for the ones we haven't yet rescued.

Find your place in the rescue.

High Hopes runs entirely on donations. Our monthly costs are around £15,000 — but regular giving covers only a fraction of that. We rely on the generosity of our community to keep going.

Legacy gifts are different. They allow us to respond to emergencies, plan for the future, and keep doing this work for years to come. Every dog that needs us in the years ahead will benefit from the decision you make today.

Three ways to leave a gift.

Every form of legacy gift is welcome and every one is put to direct use for the dogs. You can speak with your solicitor about which option suits your situation.

Residuary gift

A share of your estate left to us after other gifts and expenses have been settled. This is the most flexible option — it keeps pace with any changes in the value of your estate over time, and is often recommended as the most impactful choice.

Pecuniary gift

A specific cash amount left to us. Simple and straightforward — you decide the sum, and it comes directly to High Hopes. We recommend reviewing the amount periodically to account for inflation.

Specific gift

A particular possession — property, jewellery, or other items of value — left directly to the rescue. This is a meaningful and practical way to make a lasting contribution beyond cash.

Your legacy may also reduce your tax bill.

In the UK, gifts left to registered charities are exempt from Inheritance Tax — and leaving a larger gift may reduce what the rest of your estate pays too.

If you leave 10% or more of your net estate to charity, the Inheritance Tax rate on the remainder is reduced from 40% to 36%. A solicitor can help you understand exactly what this means for your estate.

Inheritance Tax exempt

Gifts to UK registered charities are fully exempt from Inheritance Tax, whatever the amount.

Reduced estate tax rate

Leave 10%+ of your net estate to charity and the IHT rate on the rest drops from 40% to 36%.

You don't need to tell us — but we'd love to hear from you.

You are under no obligation to let us know if you've included us in your will. But if you'd like to discuss a legacy gift, or simply want to find out more, we'd be genuinely honoured to hear from you.

Please speak with a qualified solicitor when writing or updating your will. They will be able to advise on the most appropriate type of gift for your circumstances.
